SECO collaborates with the University of Arezzo to create new opportunities for local youth

Ties between universities and industries.

SECO joins the new Steering Committee of the Arezzo University Campus to enhance synergy between the University and the world of work, creating new employment opportunities for the region’s youth.

Arezzo – November 27, 2020. SECO SpA, a leading company in the high-tech sector for computer miniaturization and IoT software solutions, backed by Fondo Italiano Tecnologia e Crescita managed by Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, announces with great satisfaction its entry into the new Steering Committee of the Arezzo University Campus. This project aims to boost collaboration between academia and industries, offering fresh opportunities for growth and work to the region’s youth. These objectives perfectly align with SECO’s innovative nature, always convinced that high-value experiences emerge from the diversity and convergence of different worlds united towards a common direction.

Alongside SECO, other major companies in the Arezzo region, including Abb Evi, Aruba, Borri, Fimer, MB Elettronica, Saima, Visia Imaging, Zucchetti Centro Sistemi, all highly technologically advanced companies within their areas of expertise, participate in this initiative. This partnership will help align educational paths with actual business needs, fostering the growth of new professionals with technical and technological skills in electronics, digitization, and mechanics, highly specialized and in line with the actual occupational needs of the companies.

The initiative, strongly desired by the President of the Arezzo University Campus and the Province of Arezzo, Silvia Chiassai Martini, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Confindustria Toscana Sud, immediately garnered SECO’s approval. SECO has collaborated multiple times over the years with important Universities and Research Centers, contributing significantly to the formation of future professionals and promoting technological innovation. “We are facing a historic turning point; the Province of Arezzo is preparing to offer a real breath of fresh air to students and families, genuinely considering their future. This initiative represents the first collaboration in Italy between high schools, the University, and the world of work. I want to personally thank the companies for believing in this ambitious and strategic project that will have significant repercussions in a particularly challenging time for the economy and employment situation in our country,” stated President Silvia Chiassai Martini.

Within this project, an important innovation concerns the educational framework of the Computer Engineering degree at the Polytechnic University of Milan. It will be extensively developed across the region through agreements between the University Campus and the first High Schools in the province’s four valleys, where “branch units” of the course, utilizing online teaching, will be set up. This is an entirely new formula in local educational offerings aimed at nurturing young talent at home and facilitating the development of a Technological Valley in the province of Arezzo.

After graduating or completing post-diploma courses ITS, students will have the opportunity to find employment in local companies, which often struggle to find professional figures with appropriate, updated, and technologically digital skills, in line with their own needs.

“A concrete, participative, and far-reaching project is the new University Campus initiative,” observes Alessandro Tarquini, Head of Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management, as well as the Arezzo Delegation of Confindustria Toscana Sud. This initiative involves multiple actors in implementing a plan that focuses on the future of young people and the Arezzo region, constituting, more than ever, a precious driving force towards what will be the post-pandemic future.”
