Improved CPU and GPU performance for Next-Gen Cabinet & Roulette Gaming Machines

What challenges we faced

The customer is an international, well-integrated manufacturer of premium gaming products.

 

In this business landscape, where it is crucial to combine high-quality manufacturing with state-of-the-art technology to fulfill the highest international standards, the customer approached SECO with the request to improve CPU and GPU performance while keeping the system platform flexible and scalable, as well as cost-effective and capable of ensuring a fast time-to-market for their cabinet & roulette gaming machines. The project requirements also involved a high level of customization in BIOS, Cooling Solution, and Labeling & Packaging.

What we did

Commencing with a thorough analysis of the requirements for enhanced CPU and GPU performance coupled with system platform flexibility and scalability, SECO devised a solution by leveraging its extensive off-the-shelf product range. The chosen solution was the SOM-COMe-CT6-V1000 Computer on Module (CoM), a high-performance COM Express® Rel. 3.0 Compact Type 6 featuring AMD Ryzen™ Embedded V1000 Processors. This module boasted a robust AMD Radeon™ Vega GPU, housing up to 11 Compute Units.

 

After showcasing the advantages of this platform to the customer with rapid sample support and delivering its own CPU & GPU Benchmark dataset, SECO conducted regular customer meetings during the Design-In phase, benefiting from excellent, direct both hardware and software R&D support from the headquarters in Arezzo. The mass production, completed within the required timeframe to achieve a fast time-to-market, led to supply the CoM systems inclusive of DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM, customized Heat-Spreader, preloaded custom BIOS, fully tested, and packaged with custom labeling.

Results we achieved

SECO successfully delivered a cost-effective, high-performance, and flexible x86 technology-based solution, precisely tailored to meet the customer's requirements. This solution not only enhanced CPU and GPU performance but also ensured system platform flexibility, scalability, and included the customization of a specialized cooling solution along with specific custom BIOS features.

 

The key success factor rested in the close synergy maintained with the client throughout the project. Through collaborative efforts, SECO developed a system solution that specifically addressed the customer's needs, ensuring a swift time-to-market for their cabinet & roulette gaming machines. This collaborative success further solidified the customer's position in the gaming industry, showcasing SECO's commitment to delivering solutions that meet the highest international standards in this dynamic sector.
